There are 2 very common ingredients in many of the personal care products available today. 2 out of the 884 & here are some details you may have overlooked or never been told. The first is Sodium Lauryl Sulphate often abbreviated as SLS it has a close cousin Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLES) that has even greater dangers. Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) exposed. Is used in most of the following products: - Shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, body wash, bubble bath, skin care & shaving cream. Now you might be surprised to discover that the same Sodium Lauryl Sulphate is also used in the concrete floor cleaners, engine degreasers & car wash detergents. It may be ok for some but it seems strange that this corrosive toxic chemical should be used in personal care products. The simple reason for this choice of chemical is its low cost & ability to make lots of foam. Hundreds of scientific studies advise the toxic & corrosive nature of SLS. Listed next are some of the frequent references from the studies: - Readily penetrates the skin. SLS can accumulate in our body tissue & can contaminate the eyes, brain, liver & kidneys. The immune system can be damaged. Skin layer separation & eye irritation is possible. Long term use can cause hair loss due to hair follicle corrosion. Healing can be retarded. Children's eye development can be retarded particularly under the age of six. Cataracts may develop even with indirect contact with SLS. SLS in toothpaste causes microscopic damage to mouth tissue & can promote an increase in gum disease. It is also linked to the recurrence of mouth ulcers. Carcinogenic nitrates can form in the bottle when SLS interacts with nitrogen bearing agents common in regular personal care products. SLS is actually used in clinical studies to irritate the skin.
